Dornan are currently recruiting for a Commercial Lead (Electrical) to work on a new project in Newport - Wales.

This role will oversee commercial activities on site, managing a small team of surveyors on a €200M+ project.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Manage and review the commercial performance of the projects from ‘cradle to grave’.
  • Commercial control of the business unit (or part) allocated to them.
  • Collation, review presentation and the management of subsequent actions arising from the monthly cost reviews.
  • Manage the commercial team to engender their continues improvement and technical development.
  • Identity and manage the business unit risk and regularly review project risks.
  • Ensure the CCS reporting is formulated accurately and submitted on time.
  • Ask the uncomfortable questions and tease out fact from fiction.
  • Manage the close of completed projects to the best commercial advantage of the company.
  • Work with the project manager and wider commercial team to maintain excellent working relationships with the client from project start up to project completion.
  • Involved in the development and managing of the project measure and reporting.
  • Regularly review business processes and promote evolution of better working practices.
  • Ensure all projects are driven to provide the best value solutions and delivered on time and within budget.
  • Promote continuous improvement with the commercial discipline of the business.
  • Mentoring and providing career guidance to the commercial team in your allocated business area.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Over 7 years experience in a commercial role with construction contractors.
  • Qualified in Quantity Surveying and ideally chartered or working towards same.
  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical scopes of work, as well as general construction.
  • Experience in a client-facing role with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • A strong communicator, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Previous leadership experience, with the ability to nurture and develop more junior members of the team, while still working towards key deliverables.
