Dornan are currently recruiting for Planning Apprentices to work alongside our Planning team on one of our London-based projects.

 

Dornan are a leading Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation contractor with projects in Ireland, Europe and the UK. Dornan are involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Power, Waste to Energy, Commercial, Data Centre and Petrochemical.

The successful candidates will join an already established design team and be an exemplar ambassador for the Company.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning using Primavera P6 or ASTA PowerProject
  • Develop Pre-Construction, Construction and Commissioning Program’s as part of the Dornan project team under the supervision of the Lead Planner
  • Ensure Site walks are caried out on a weekly basis to ensure the Junior planner is familiar with the projects progress
  • Maintain good relations and facilitate exchange of information between client and Dornan, as well as internally to assure alignment of strategic objectives. 
  • Be an active member in the cross-functional project team, liaising with Commercial Engineering, Procurement, Construction, QA, Turnover, and other Functions; identify potential areas of concern and resolve them before they become issues.
  • Assist in Development of the Project Controls Systems specific to the Project
  • Assist in Progress Measuring of all works, Direct & Sub-Contract, using the Dornan bespoke PMS

 
 

Required Knowledge:

  • Commercial understanding

  • Health, Safety and Environmental systems

  • Awareness of BIM & Engineering Process particularly at Pre-Construction Stage

  • Awareness & understanding of QA handover Process and Commissioning (Cx) at project turnover stage

  • Awareness of the team’s strengths and weaknesses
